1000m boys final won in fast time

Mark English came 9th in an extremely fast 1000m boys final at Bishan stadium this morning. Eleven athletes qualified for the final, and English's finished 2:24:95. Ethiopia's Mohamed Geleto won in a time of 2:19:54.

Burnett boxes his way to Ireland's first ever Youth Olympic Medal

Ryan Burnett has guaranteed himself and his country a medal at the first ever World Youth Olympic. Burnett defeated Zohidion Hoorbyev 2-1 in a very tense semi final. Burnett was the more positive and continually tried to out wit his defensive opponent.

Burnett through to boxing semi-final

Ryan Burnett is through to the Youth Olympic Light Fly Weight semi final after he comfortably defeated Kirylenka of Belarus. Burnett got off to a great start leading 3-0 after the first round and never looked in any trouble eventually winning by a 12-0 margin.

Greenan 21st in Modern Pentahlon debut

Emily Greenan qualified Ireland a place in the Youth Olympic Games modern pentathlon competition in June 2010. Coming into the event she was ranked twenty fourth, but due to an excellent swim, and combined shoot and run moved up the rankings to finish a very respectful 21st in her first major competition at this level.
