Dermot Henihan, Ireland’s Olympic Team Chef de Mission, was in Poznan this morning and was one of the first to congratulate the team on qualifying the boat.
After the race Cathal Moynihan said: ‘It feels great. It’s been a dream of mine since I was 12 and we’re delighted we did the business.
‘The pressure was immense; coming from ourselves really. We’ve put so much on the line just to make it to Beijing and now we can move on and focus on the Games, we’re delighted’
