Performance Remit:
The PCI moved from a purely coordinating remit to a performance development remit in 2003 in line with the recommendations of the Sydney Review Report into the preparation and performance of the Irish Olympic Team for the 2000 Sydney Games. The PCI appointed the first “performance” position within the organisation with the appointment of the Paralympic Technical Director in January 2003 (This position later changed to Paralympic Performance Director).
Through this position, the PCI develops annual Performance Plans with Games eligible sports in Ireland and liaises with the Irish Sports Council on all aspects of the preparation of the Irish Team for Paralympic Games including the provision of sport specific and Multisport Training camps both nationally and internationally.
