Irish Curling Team invited to prestigious event

They have played in a number of warm up events in Scotland , but their final warm up tournament will provide a stiff test. Between the 28th – 30th November they will play Europes elite curlers in the prestigious Edinburgh Internation Event at the Murrayfield Curling Centre, Edinburgh.

Most of the top European countries are taking part with teams entered from Scotland, Finland, Germany, Italy , Czech Republic, Holland, Norway, Sweden and Ireland.
 
Ireland preparations have been overseen by their Canadian coach Ron Meyers. Team Manager Gordon McIntyre said “we will be looking for some positive performances prior to leaving for the European Championships in Sweden in December. This tournament is a crucial part of our bid to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.”
 
The Curling programme is funded by the Olympic Council of Ireland’s  Olympic Solidarity funding for Winter sport.
