It’s Gold for Katie

Ireland’s Katie Taylor has won Gold at the London 2012 Olympics beating Russia’s Sofya Ochigava 10-8.

Katie was tied at 2-2 after the first round and fell back to 4-3 after the second round. The vast Irish crowd at the Excel arena lifted the roof in support of Katie and she came back to win the third round 4-2. Katie maintained this lead throughout the final round to finish 7-5 to tumultuous applause and cheering from the crowd.
