Colombia sporting links to Ireland

The Olympic Council of Ireland and UCD met with the Colombia Olympic Committee today in Howth to explore training camp and sports links in Ireland.

Colombia Head of Delegation Carriazo is exploring UCD as a base for pre games training camps prior to London 2012 with Brian Mullins UCD.

He also had discussions with the OCI’s Pat Hickey and CEO Stephen Martin on developing sporting links with a number of Colombia’s priority and developing sports

Colombia won 2 medals in Beijing, in Weightlifting and Wrestling, and were represented in 15 sports including athletics, boxing, cycling, equestrian, rowing and swimming.

The Colombians want their athletes to be more exposed to European training methods and see Ireland as a potential partner.
